5 Ways for College Students to Celebrate July 4th

The U.S.A. is 243 years old this July 4th. What are some of the best ways to celebrate? It depends on who you ask. The following are 5 ideas that may especially appeal to college students wanting to celebrate America’s birthday.

1-Watch Fireworks!

The traditional way to celebrate the birthday of our great country is to watch big fireplace displays. Typically, every large town sponsors a fireworks show, and many small towns do the same. July 4th and fireworks go together like peas in a pod. The reality is, though, that many people have never seen a good fireworks show.

In towns with large populations, just getting to the area where seating is perfect to see all the fireworks can be a huge headache, due to the crowds clogging up the streets and taking the parking spots. One way or another, though, make it happen because it’s not the 4th without the fireworks. Once you’ve found a good place to watch the pyrotechnics, drink a cold one!

2-Have a Barbecue

Another very American thing to do is have a barbecue with friends and family on the 4th of July. Pull out the barbecue pit, fire it up, and throw on hot dogs and burgers for the kids plus other foods of your choice. Barbecue ribs are always a hit. You may opt for barbecue steak or chicken and some grilled vegetables. Even fruit can be tastier after some expert grilling. Plan your barbecue and invite all your favorite people. Ask everyone to bring their favorite cold drinks and side dishes to go along with the barbecue.

3-Take a Road Trip

America is all about freedom. So why not exercise your freedom to travel on July 4? Take a road trip and just enjoy the excitement of the day. You may want to drive to a location hosting a great concert or to see a 4th of July parade on a waterway followed by fireworks reflected on the water. Just be safe and have fun!

4-Host a Pool Party

Temperatures can be really hot on July 4, depending on where you live. A pool party may be the best way to celebrate with friends and family. Throw a pool party! Serve all kinds of patriotic foods in red, white, and blue. Wear your favorite patriotic swimwear and t-shirt.

5-Do Something Patriotic

For many people, July 4th is a great time to remember our military. After all, we had to fight for our independence. To stay free, military might is a necessity. You can visit lonely veterans in a local nursing home or volunteer to help an organization dedicated to helping military personnel. But to be patriotic, it can be as simple as flying a flag outside your home.

Happy 4th of July!

With many people off work on the 4th of July, you may be one of them. The only thing you may want to do is sleep in. Just be sure to do something fun on America’s birthday after getting some extra ZZZZZs. We’re all really blessed to be in the greatest country the world has ever known. It’s a great celebration! How will you do July 4th?
