6 Reasons Cannabis Should be Legalized
Cannabis has finally recognized for what it is, with 58% or more of adults in the U.S. agreeing that it should be legalized. And what is marijuana? It’s nature’s own medicine cabinet, not to mention a safer high than alcohol or prescription narcotics. Relatively little is known about the pros and cons of weed because research is sadly lacking. Perhaps that’s because the powers-that-be refuse to allow marijuana to compete with legal sedatives. Whatever the reason, we know, at least, that cannabis has fantastic health benefits. The following are some of the great reasons marijuana should, at the very least, be legalized for medical treatments.
1-A Safer Painkiller
There are hundreds of marijuana strains, and many effectively provide relief from painful conditions. Some strains relieve mild discomfort and others are strong enough to blunt severe pain, much like a narcotic. Cannabis can help patients who suffer from symptoms of arthritis, fibromyalgia, migraine headaches, serious injuries, PMS, seizures, and lower back pain, to name a few.
2-A Mood Lifter
Cannabis patients of a certain age tend to be uncomfortable with the idea of getting high from marijuana, even if doctors prescribe it. This is something worth getting over if any of your ailments can be treated with marijuana. Many strains get rid of anxiety, depression, and stress while replacing negative thoughts with euphoria, happiness, and/or giggles, depending on which type of marijuana you consume.
3-Natural Sleep Aid
For people who have insomnia, marijuana can be an excellent solution. Many cannabis strains provide the perfect type of deep relaxation that leads to many hours of quality sleep. Ganja is much better than a synthetic sleep aid because it doesn’t cause a range of adverse side effects.
4-Low Abuse Risk
Some experts say the general public has been systematically misled about the connection between cannabis and addiction. It turns out, coffee is more addictive than cannabis. Studies show that only about 10% of adult users of marijuana become addicted. In comparison, the following are other drugs and the rate of dangerous dependence:
- Cocaine: 20%
- Heroin: 25%
- Tobacco: 30%
5-Not a Gateway Drug
There is no evidence to support the myth that marijuana is a gateway drug leading to dependence upon more harmful narcotics. Drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes are habits proven to lead to heavier drugs at a far higher level than cannabis. Also, marijuana has been shown not as a cause of moving on to a severe drug addiction but as merely being an associated event.
6-No Danger of a Deadly Overdose
In life, it’s always good to pick our arguments. Getting alarmed about marijuana seems like a misguided notion when you consider the fact that no one has ever died from an overdose of cannabis. While marijuana has NEVER been the cause of a deadly overdose, tens of thousands of people in the U.S. die annually from overdoses of prescription drugs or alcohol-related causes.
Get on the THC Train
The primary ingredient in marijuana that makes it a magic plant is tetrahydrocannabinol, better known as THC. There is currently a grave situation in which people are dying from drug overdoses at unprecedented rates. Most people who have died developed addictions from prescription drugs. Laws are changing and things are being done to address the crisis. Legalizing medical marijuana can save countless lives. THC is an excellent substitute for dangerously addictive narcotics and an antidote for many of the reasons life is crap.
