Alabama
Dauphin Island
If you're looking for a beach vacation that's unique, why not try Alabama? It wouldn't be the first state you'd think of when wanting to go on a beach vacation. However, the "Sunset Captial Of Alabama" is a perfect destination for anyone who is looking for family fun.
Simon's Take: He doesn't have a family, but if he did, this would be his choice for a family vacay.

California
Monterey
Looking to a west coast state of mind? Carmel Beach in Monterey, California, gives a city vibe with a beach feel. From seafood restaurants to gift shops, an aquarium, and more, this is a beach vacation all ages can enjoy.
Simon's Take: Simon suggested the Aquarium - he loves sea animals.

Florida
Sanibel Island
Skip the popularity of Miami Beach and be sure to relax at Sanibel Island, where 15 miles of beach awaits you. From restaurants to golfing, sports on the water, and shelling, this lets you keep your Florida vacation without as many people.
Simon's Take: Leave Orlando and the theme parks behind for this island getaway right in the USA.

Hawaii
Molokai
You can have a tropical vacation right here in the United States. The Island of Molokai in Hawaii is the place to be. Discover local Hawaiian culture, explore the nature of this unique island, and sprawl out on the beach all day long. What could be better?
Simon's Take: Hawaii isn't just for honeymoons - explore nature right on the deep blue Pacific ocean - just watch out for the volcanos.

Maine
Bar Harbor, Maine
If you want to experience true New England, a trip to Bar Harbor, Maine, is where you should probably go to. From golfing and boating to Acadia National Park, there is so much to do (or not, if you just want to relax at the beach) you won't want to leave.
Simon's Take: Try the lobster rolls, there is no place better!

Massachusetts
Cape Cod, Massachusetts
Summer in Cape Cod is unlike any other. Take a few days, a week, or two, and travel to this New England summer vacation epicenter. Just like it's Bar Harbor coast-mate, this is a place where you and your family can create memories.
Simon's Take: Simon loved taking tours of the lighthouses and historical landmarks in Cape Cod.

Michigan
Traverse City, Michigan
There is no ocean, but there is a great lakeshore, which still makes for a relaxing beach vacation. This is a great destination for drinkers - Simon said he went a couple of years ago and drank a liiiittle too much. From a winery, breweries, and taprooms, craft beer snobs and winos alike will enjoy the great outdoors and a relaxing getaway.
Simon's Take: The Sleeping Bear Dunes don't actually have sleeping bears.

North Carolina
Carova, North Carolina
As one of the many parts of the outer banks of North Carolina, this is a great option for anyone looking for a low-key and family-friendly beach vacation. From shopping to activities like hang gliding and horseback riding, choose from relaxing on their beautiful beaches or going on an adventure.
Simon's Take:  You can now add an OBX bumper sticker to your car after a trip here!

Oregon
Newport, Oregon
While West Coast beaches aren't too popular on this list, this hidden gem is worth noting. In Newport, Oregon, around the beginning of July, the tides get low and forgotten shells and treasure are known to wash up. Who knows? You might discover something amazing on your beach vacation to Newport.
Simon's Take: Summer in the Pacific Northwest is unique and beautiful.

South Carolina
Kiawah Island, South Carolina
Right in Charleston County, this beach town is a self-proclaimed "Island Paradise." Golfers will love this resort that includes courses, tennis, and the best fresh seafood around. Older couples and families will love this laid back resort feel.
Simon's Take: If you're going to golf, make sure you can measure up to everyone else.

Texas
Rockport, Texas
This, like its southern cousin Alabama, is perfect for anyone who wants to go on an unlikely vacation. Not only is this home to your next getaway, but it's a bird sanctuary, too!
Simon's Take:  Practice your bird calling at this bird sanctuary and beach.

From nature getaways to resort vacation, there is sure to be a place for you!
